Eduardo Barreto is “gravely ill”. This guy is one of the most underrated artists working in comics today – although he has been doing the Judge Parker strip recently (I wonder how many papers carry that at this point?). Hope he gets well soon.

Roger Daltrey has joined me in not thinking much of the Who performance at the Super Bowl.

Guns N Roses played at the former site of CBGB’s last night as part of Fashion Week (cannot imagine the size of that paycheck) and they covered AC/DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie. The 17 song set included a scant 3 songs from Chinese Democracy.

Congrats to Mindy Kaling, who wrote the funniest episode of the Office this season so far – it aired last night. She plays Kelly Kapoor on the show.

Hot Toys revealed their Sarah Conner figure today as a “Valentines” surprise. Considering the target audience, this may be the only female figure they will ever get in their house, even after paying $150.00. Looks great, of course.

Matty posted to Facebook that the DCUC series 12 sets are on sale the 16th of Feb, although this is in direct contradiction to previous statements from Matty, which claimed March 15th. So who knows? Certainly not Mattel.

Hot Toys Reveals! Ghost Rider, Watchmen Rorschach!

Take these with a grain of salt, but considering that they arrive from the same source, it seems likely they are not fakes. There has been much speculation as to when or if the Watchmen line would continue at HT, with many fans despondent that the star of the film has yet to be made – but here he is. The Ghost Rider figure was already announced, but these are the first pics. Note that both figures are not final versions.

New Comics for August 5th 2009

Here are some of the items that should be arriving at your LCS this week. Note that Diamond is telling retailers the Hot Toys Batmobile / Tumbler is due to arrive this week, but I'm skeptical myself. It is just out in HK, but most HT stuff has taken months to reach DC Direct, so this seems unlikely at best, but if you ordered one - get your wallet ready just in case!

What the hell happened to this company?

On the eve of Comic-con Sideshow released a bunch of announcements and sneak peeks. No doubt we'll see more at the show.


Three count 'em three more Iron Man sculpted pieces in various scales and at various retails. I don't know how many Iron Man pieces SS has come up with to date but besides the X-Men's White Queen, it's clear SS thinks these two are the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe. Oh there's also a new Venom statue despite the fact Venom hasn't been cool since the third Spider-Man film ruined him.

Also new in the SS Marvel lineup is the Scarlet Witch's chest. May or may not be a new Adam Hughes designed Comiquette.


Then we have a new or should I say old Indiana Jones from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 1/6th scale figure. Likely coming sometime in 2010...only nearly two years after the fourth Indy film was in theaters. Nice timing SS! Finger on the pulse baby!

We also see more overpriced figure environments listed. Anyone buying these at full price is a class 'A' sucker. Then to round it off, we still have yet more overpriced Lord of the Rings statues and the schlepping for Hot Toys superior products.

Oh Sideshow...you're going to have to work much harder than this during Comic-con to impress anybody. Get your shit together. Look around the con at your competition...everyone else is improving while you hammer out the same old crap or overpriced lameness.

Hot Toys Dark Knight Tumbler Actually Made

After months & months of delays with no word as to when (or in fact, if) the much desired Dark Knight Tumbler 1:6 vehicle from Hot Toys was going to be released, here's proof it has actually been manufactured and may be ready to ship soon. Considering it has taken DC Direct up to 6 months to get only partial orders filled in the USA, it might be smart to start looking at Hong Kong and Japanese sellers if you want to get this before you buy a new calendar.

Countdown to Nerd Prom

The 2009 San Diego Comic-Con will soon be upon us and the Bitter Geeks will be braving the masses.

Of course there will be plenty of fine websites out there that will cover every new announcement and panel up to the minute along with posting thousands of pics of toys, comics and smiling nerds in homemade costumes.
